In a recent interview with CNN African voices, Jane Michael shares the secrets of her success in the Nigerian fashion industry.
Enjoy excerpts from her interview below:
On what motivates her
“Hunger brought me to where I am today. I was hungry I needed to do something I couldn’t stay still. I was able to understand what poverty is. That part of it reshaped my whole life.
What gets me out of bed is my past. Remembering that I don’t want to go back to where I started where I came from. I don’t want to be hungry so it gets me up on my feet. I have to move.”
On what sharpened her fashion designing skills
“First, myself. I thought that I was able to dress myself right and put myself right. And most times when I dress up people tend to compliment me that they not only like what I am wearing but also want what I am wearing”
On Her Love For Fashion and Styling
”My love for fashion styling is inborn. My siblings told me that I would never wear an outfit that does not come with a matching bag. And I used to play dress up as a kid. I would take my mother’s clothes and pose in front on of the mirror”
